James Manning (October 22, 1738 – July 29, 1791) was an American Baptist minister, educator and legislator from Providence, Rhode Island. Samuel Jones was a prominent member of the Philadelphia Association and was instrumental in the founding of Brown University. He was born in 1735 and educated at Hopewell Academy.
